Verdict: "Phantom Thread" is the second collaboration between Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day-Lewis after "There Will Be Blood". It's the story of fashion designer Reynold Woodcock and his relationship with his newfound model and muse, Alma. This is one of the best movies of 2017. PTA proved once again why he's one of the best directors working today by making one of the best crafted films of the year. The cinematography was brilliant, as was the score by Jonny Greenwood, which accompanied the disturbing atmosphere Paul Thomas Anderson was going for perfectly, and will probably stay stuck in my head for days. Daniel Day-Lewis, as usual, was unrecognizable and completely disappeared behind his character, and the rest of the cast did more than a great job. My only complaints about the movie, which I feel bad for even mentioning at all, are a scene towards the end that felt a bit convenient, as well as the runtime of the film, which was just a tad too long. If this is truly Daniel Day-Lewis' last picture, as he mentioned himself a few months ago, then I'm happy to say that he ended his acting career with a bang.
Final Grade: 9/10
